Testing Testing

Anybody who's friends with me on Facebook will know that I'm not the biggest Miley Cyrus fan. Now, that doesn't mean I don't like any of her music - I think she's had some catchy songs, and 'Can't be Tamed' and 'We can't stop' are both on my playlist. I just find her speaking voice to be incredibly grating, and she comes across as really arrogant and egocentric in my opinion. Don't even get me started on her latest reinvention as some kind of slutty ghetto diva...

Anyhow, I thought I'd weigh in my thoughts on her latest performance at the VMA's seeing as it's all anybody seems to be talking about right now (at least on Twitter anyway)

Putting my dislike for her aside for a moment, I have to give her props where due. She knows how to be controversial and get people talking. Like Britney and Christina before her, she knows full well that sex sells. 

But Christina I feel had the voice to back it up, and Britney had the rhythm and the moves. This whole twerking trend just doesn't cut it for me - all that gyrating and shaking her ass, I just feel like she's trying way too hard. It all seems so desperate to me.
